Going on three years since the launch of this blog, we’ve come a long way: We’ve posted all kinds of wonderful treasures from our musical youth, reunited with hundreds of old friends, started new collaborations — and in October alone, drew more than 15,000 visitors here.
That means we’re in a great position to locate just about any surviving sounds, images and accounts from our past … or to re-create anything we want to revisit.
So where do you want to dig next? What recordings, flyers, photos, bands, events and people have you missed all these years? Working together, there’s a great chance we can find them.
I like playing detective, and I like unearthing buried treasure. What else should we rediscover?
OK, I’ll prime the pump:
1. Here’s an artifact I hadn’t found before: A primitive MySpace page for Guy Goode and the Decentones, a very offbeat band that we’ve discussed before. I would be very excited to post more about these guys.
2. Another class of artifact I’d like more of: any photography that includes shots of the venues we played. (Not just the action on stage … I’d like to renew my memories of the spaces, too.) I’ve seen no photos of the old basement performance space at Greenwich Village West, and so far I’ve seen only one crowd shot from the Headquarters. How about DaveFests 1 and 2 at Patrick Works’ house? Also our nocturnal gatherings at Balboa Park and Presidio Park … Any photography to capture those?
3. Video/film. I believe there’s more out there, and it’s precious now. We’ll help anybody digitize anything that pictures the bands and the scene … Let’s do it before it decays!
Anything from the Dinettes!
Where is Lisa Astin’s daughter?
Where is Johnny Vomit?
What happened to Brian Bloodclot?
Lori knows the Johny story, check my FB. I’ve asked for help locating Lisas daughter on Injection thread, lately…we must find her, (Doriot perhaps?). Brian Bloodclot anyone???
Doriot!!! I was writing while you were…please contact me or Lou regarding Lisa and her family!! XO
Doriot! Doriot!
Yea! Looking forward to it.
Dinettes, Injections, Cardiac Kidz, Zeros, Penetrators. Farmers hey do we have enough resurected bands together to put a Saturday Summer fest together?
Eric Rife you remember talking about doing something like that?
Dorriet; the Cardiac Kidz would be honored to play with you at a reunion gig for the Dinettes
Yes, to the Dinettes, and also the Exterminators, and DFX2!
Also, the Unholy Rollers (pre-Rockin’ Dogs band from Poway!), and also the Playground Slap (who are BTW recently reformed).
Also, my sister just found the Music Power recordings of the Wallflowers, so more of that to come!
It would be a miracle, but if we could access Steve Epineter’s Studio 517 archives, we’d find recordings AND videos of almost all the bands here, from Claude Coma, the Tell-Tale Hearts, The Gravedigger Five, The Wallflowers, Hair Theater, the Rockin’ Dogs, you name it, but a true treasure trove.
And two words -- MYSTIC RECORDS!!!
I would like the Executives to surface … Besides 5051, they were early to record among those of us born mid-’60s.
Speaking of a cache of videos: Jimmy Jazz shot many shows in the mid-’80s … Jimmy, are you out there??
>>Also, my sister just found the Music Power recordings of the Wallflowers, so more of that to come!
Dave: DUDE. This would be epic. What-all’s on there??
Doriot. do you remember when I went up to Madame Womgs with the Dinettes? On the way back I put plastic in my hamburgher at the resteraunt, and complained that I wanted it free. The owner wanted to kill me. You guys paid for it. I am still embarrassed.
I second Mystic Records.
Thanks for the hook-up Matt.
Matt, look for Mike Jenks on facebook, executives did a show in 2005 or so.
I want to hear/have those wallflower recordings Dave!
Me too, but I don’t think it’s going to happen…
I vote to bring back Dr. Chico’s Island Sou…no, wait…that’s a bad idea.
Dirk Debonaire and the Boat People!!!
The Snowmen!!!
Tweed Sneakers!
>>Tweed Sneakers!
(Then there was Snead Tweakers, a band of speed freaks who wore golf cleats and Titleist caps onstage.)
