(Dave Rinck a k a Wallflower keeps us posted on the Kidz’s revival.)
It’s been an honor for me play rhythm guitar for the last few months with this classic punk-rock band. This is a working band, and it has a new lineup, new CDs (I’ve never released two CDs on the same day before!), and new shows! Here’s an update:
THE NEW LINEUP:
Jim Ryan – bass and vocals
Jerry Flack – guitar and vocals

NEW CDs:
“Meet With Me – Live At Lestat’s West”: On Dec. 1, the band released this brand-new CD recorded on at the Nov. 4 show on Blindspot Records. This one features artwork by underground art Goddess Kristen Tobiason.
“Rarities 1979-1982”: Simultaneously, the band re-released the original classic Cardiac Kidz, also on Blindspot. This is the real-deal, classic San Diego punk rock from the halcyon days of the Skeleton Club.
NEW SHOWS:
We kicked off our gigging year at Lestat’s West Nov. 4 with The P Man, hING and the Fairmount Extension, and then again at the Tower Bar on Nov. 5 with up-and-coming punk rockers the Last Years. (It was so cool to hear a new generation of kids cover the Dead Boys!)
The Cardiac Kidz, then and now
Since then, we’ve been at the Shakedown Bar, Til Two and Bar 11. Heaps more to come, be sure to check the Cardiac Kidz website!
In January, we hit the road with New York blues rockers the Last Internationale for a tour that’ll take us down the coast from Portland to the Bay Area, Los Angeles, and beyond. Here’re the dates for shows on our home turf in San Diego:
Thurs., Jan 27: Bar 11 with the Last Internationale
Sat., Jan 29: Lestat’s West with the Last Internationale and the Answers
We’re meeting a whole generation of underground bands. They’re out there, and the crowds tell the whole story! Maybe punk rock’s not dead after all? Taste the fury (babyface)!

The Sceneroller website is easy to use and intuitive. I have a lots of artifacts and band info that pertains to the Cardiac Kidz and “DNA” spinoffs and I personally don’t want this website to be heavely laden with CK data.
This sight is perfect for documenting the historic journey of both your musical journey in the music scene and your memory of any those events that meant something to you or the growth of the music scene. I’m taking a rest for now but I encourage and plead with you guys to log on join in and “document” your interactions within the music scene!! All of you,…not just us musicians. Your comments and recollections are actually more valuable to the scene then our “accomplishments” as bands so please, please participate! The Scenroller is a foundational piece of the Endless Underground thanks Matt.

Jim: I’m thrilled that you’re enjoying it — and the more you put in there, the better it’ll get!
The fun of Sceneroller (we hope) is that it breaks with the rigid, up-and-down blog format and really does let people explore anywhere they want. You’re absolutely right that participation will make it stronger and stronger. Meanwhile, we’re going to keep improving the experience … We’re hungry for feedback on anywhere people are getting hung up or lost along their journey.

At this time the only thing I would add to this concept software is a way to link available discography info for bands that have releases under thier belts. The link for a 45 release for example would hook up to the musican that played on it, and the band that released it or appeared on it (a lot of San diego bands appear on complilations) where it was recorded, label, who mixed engineer etc. something to add to the release version.
