The Cardiac Kidz, then and now

DSC_0131The wave of reunion gigs continues as San Diego music vets the Cardiac Kidz announce their “Last Chance Tour,” featuring an appearance in Ramona, Calif., July 10.

The band’s triumphant return, supported by Doggy Daddy and the Fry Catz as well as French Vampires, runs 7:30-11pm at Ramona Mainstage (626 Main St., Ramona, Calif. 92065).

To warm up for the show, here are a couple of covers by the Kidz, separated by more than 30 years.

“Here is a rare cover of ‘I Wanna Be Sedated’ by the Ramones,” the Cardiac Kidz’ Jim Ryan writes. “The Cardiac Kidz did this at the Spirit live show we recorded in 1979.”

“In contrast, we were messing around [in April] and recorded this ad hoc version of ‘Words of Love’ by Buddy Holly,” Jim continues. “I play the drums/vocals and then laid down the bass track to fill it out a little.”

  1. We are really looking forward to playing this show and seeing our old friends there. We have some new songs and our sound has revamped a little, but al in all we are still the Cardiac Kidz….

  2. Pictures on the way Matt. My little brother took some photos and shot video on his cam corder. I’ll foward video to Eric (if he is intrested) and you as I review what he’s got. He showcased the “raw feed” to my mom and made her cry because on her memories of the “Sun-Up San Diego” TV show and our first show at the “Spirit Night Club”. We had about 55 people there. Not bad since we had less than 2 weeks to promote it and it was in the far away land of Ramona. A Big thanks to all of you who made it there! It well enough that we may expand the tour to the inner city and who knows; west coast? lol
