The Unknowns join the show!
Jan. 30 at San Diego’s Casbah

Cooler and cooler: As if the Town Criers, Manual Scan and the Blues Gangsters weren’t enough to fill out the next Che Underground showcase at the Casbah, San Diego’s legendary Unknowns have joined the bill as special guests!

Guitarist Mark Neill, bassist Dave Doyle and drummer Craig Packham will round out the evening with a short set, their first gig in more than five years. If I had any question about getting my plane ticket’s worth, this answers it definitively. Don’t miss it!

More highlights of this historic musical showcase:

  • Alt-country pioneers the Town Criers (Ray Brandes, David Klowden, Peter Miesner and Mark Zadarnowski) will mark their 20-year reunion.
  • San Diego legends Manual Scan (Bart Mendoza, Kevin Donaker-Ring, Tim Blankenship and Morgan Young) will make their first live appearance since the Che Games for May gig last spring.
  • International Che Underground supergroup the Blues Gangsters (Kristi Maddocks, Dave Rinck, Dave Ellison, Dave Fleminger and Matt Johnson) will make their live debut.
  • Your DJ will be Louis Mello, a k a DJ Dirty Bird.

Tickets ($10 advance/$12 at the door) are available now at the Casbah Web site.

  1. This has to be one of, if not the best, bands to come out of the SD scene!!

    Man…they’re so original!!

  2. Posting this in two spots to make sure the word is spread: Disappointing news for Unknowns fans …

    Hi all,

Due to very last minute scheduling changes with a crucial project, we cannot make the gig. We apologize for the late notice and we’re sure all of you can understand and appreciate the situation. The Unknowns wish all of you a great evening of fun and frivolity and hope to see everyone from a stage near you in the future.

I’m sorry we won’t be seeing the band this time out, but I hope we can make it happen later this year!
