Sad news for friends of Ronnie Hake, an expatriate of the San Diego scene who passed away April 25 at his home in Menomonie, Wis.
According to the obituary:
“Ron was a San Diego native born to James and Irene Hake; he spent his childhood in Menomonie then attended high school in San Diego. Ron moved back to Menomonie to raise his children Madeline, Curtis, and Lillian.
“He worked for 22 years with Swiss Miss/Con Agra. Ron was a loving and devoted father, he enjoyed sports, was a passionate surfer, and a dedicated Packer fan. He also liked going to performances held by his son’s band.”
Writing in the online memory book, one friend from San Diego recalls, “My brother John (Russell) and Ronnie were good friends, along with Mike Woods back when they all went to Pacific Beach Jr. High in San Diego.
“John remembers many good times with both of them. Ronnie always had a big smile and loved the Green Bay Packers.”
Che Underground: The Blog extends our condolences to Ron’s family and friends.
Ronnie Hake was a good friend of mine, way back. He watched my back when I was a kid, he was a fun guy to hang out with and we had some really good times. Sad to hear about his demise. Life is fleeting, and we all go too quick. Aloha- TLH
Rest In Peace Ronnie I last spoke to you after Mike passed away, my heart goes out to your family. Mike had nothing but love for you. with respect

Ron was my good Bro and I will miss him. the last time i talked to him i was in prison, he will be missed, and Dianne Cherry loves him still. Ron, Mike Woods and i grew up in Pacific Beach and used to surf and started hanging in the san Diego punk scene at the same time…I will miss you Ronnie… Love ya Bid & Dianne
Having talked to Bid,(Steve Walker)& Danny Walker this morning…I just found out about Ronnie’s passing…I am bummed. I went back to Wisconsin with Ronnie and stayed at his grandparent’s house one year and remember how his grandmother “darned” my socks…sounds crazy but I’ve had that done before,or since..He was a good friend and I spent many a day out in the line-up with him and up & down the boardwalk…Him and Mike Woods will be missed John Russell…love you bro,Mike Douglass.
