Here’s another piece of the Morlocks’ performance at San Francisco’s Swedish American Hall, captured by KALX radio on Sept. 28, 1985.
This live performance of “One Way Ticket,” which bassist Jeff Lucas has called lead guitarist Tommy Clarke’s “masterpiece,” closed that memorable show.
“I distinctly recall how the song’s signature stuttered rhythm would stick with you: out onto Market St., on the way home, and on for days,” recalls Paul Kaufman. “That was the best Morlocks show I ever saw.”

Nice work on the drums Markie … I like the way the fills kind of barely fit, it’s frantic and edgy but still tight. I always thought me you and Jeff were one hell of a driving rhythm section.
Mark: The first time I remember meeting you was when you joined the Wallflowers. You already kicked some bass drum then — who-all did you play with before that?

Funny on most all of our recorded / boom boxed stuff you relly miss alot of the drums. This recording the bass drum booms, almost a little to much.
The first real band I was in was the WallFowers. I played in a few punk bands that never played anywhere but in a garage.
What about those Gary Numan covers we were forced to do Mark?That almost turned me off of music completely. Mark:”I’d really like to play in a power-metal band like Venom or Motorhead”Did you ever get your chance?
Forceable Gary Numan is forbidden by the Geneva Convention. The Bush Administration has argued strenuously that applying small samples of “The Pleasure Principle” to enemy combatants is an essential tactic in the war on terror, but the rumored use of “Are Friends Electric?” on Guantanamo prisoners has been staunchly denied by the Pentagon.
