Pretty Things preview in Carlsbad

(Bart Mendoza invites the gang to watch Reelin’ in the Years’ new documentary and talk to panelists Mike Stax and David Peck.)

On Jan. 22, 2011, at 2 p.m., The Museum of Making Music in Carlsbad, Calif., will host a special exclusive advance look at Pretty Things: Midnight To Six 1965-1970, an upcoming film documentary from San Diego’s Reelin’ in the Years Productions, part of its British Invasion series. Admission to the museum includes the screening ($7; $5 for students, seniors and museum members).

Rock-‘n’-roll fans will not want to miss this special exclusive advance look. Devoted to the story of British rock legends the Pretty Thingswho still tour today the film documents the band’s earliest years (through interviews and 20 rare vintage clips of the band in action) all from original source tapes, with re-mastered sound.

Post-movie, there will be a Q&A with special guests RITY President / Producer David Peck and music historian / consultant Mike Stax.

David Peck is the President of Reelin’ In The Years Productions LLC, the largest music footage library in the world, housing over 10,000 hours of performances from all genres of music covering the last 50 years. They exclusively represent the rights to all of the music footage contained within 30 television stations throughout Europe, Australia and Japan and are able to license that material to all forms of media.

Mike Stax is an acclaimed music journalist/historian, as well as publisher and editor of music magazine Ugly Things and adjacent book publishing/ label. His attention to detail and rock-‘n’-roll minutiae have made his work a barometer for others to follow. Also a highly respected musician, he currently fronts Bomp recording artists The Loons, having previously spent time in such noted combos as The Crawdaddys and Tell-Tale Hearts.
