The Che Underground adventure inspired yet another historic gathering July 28, 2008, as veterans of Noise 292 assembled at San Francisco’s Fisherman’s Wharf to commemorate the 25th anniversary of a crucial Che Cafe performance with the Answers and Hair Theatre.
Left to right: Noise 292 guitarist/ vocalist David Rives; Answers guitarist (and frequent Noise 292 pickup drummer) David Fleminger; Noise 292 guitarist/ bassist/ vocalist Kristin Martin; Noise 292 percussionist Hobie Hodge; and Hobie’s son Trevor, standing in for Yours Truly.
Here’s everyone (except Trevor), probably at the aforementioned July 29, 1983, show:

Wow Matt! I am really amazed at how you’ve not aged at all. I mean, you actually look younger than when you were in the band. Oh er, ok that’s Hobie’s son. Oh okay…
I call on all Che Underground bands to re-unite! The show must go on!
David R- “I call on all Che Underground bands to re-unite! The show must go on!”
That goes for the Wallflowers, too! Bag full of hugs!
Was there a Noise292 reunion performance as well?
Paul: I don’t think there was a Noise 292 jam this time.
I believe everyone mostly hung out and got crabs … Just like many good punk-rock scenes!
I’m working on it Paul. But I am leaning toward turning down the U.N appeal “Bag of Hugs” thing.
Maybe we can sell an ad to Nike?
It was a fun get together, we met up at Hyde st. wharf during the festival of sail. Took a free tour of the Balclutha (the SF equivalent of the Star of India) then went down to North Beach for some Italian food. David has been sequestered in HI for ages, I’m sure I hadn’t seen him for over 20 years. Aging is a funny thing, faces change a little, styles maybe even less, mannerisms almost not at all. If a reunion gig ever materializes I will definitely be there!

Hobie: Indeed, Dave Rives seems to be clad in the same brown suede jacket he was wearing when the photo in our top banner was shot!
