Hair Theatre documentarian Laura S. joins the list of contributors to the Che Underground photo archive. First up: a set of photos that I would estimate to be from 1986 or 1987, when Rockin’ Dogs guitarist Sam Wilson joined Hair Theatre after the departure of Paul Allen.
Besides Sammy, this set features our clearest views yet of the rest of the band; there’s vocalist Sergio, of course, but also great shots of bassist Sergio Castillo, guitarist Cesar Castillo and drummer Steve Broach.
A teaser for Hair Theatre fans: Sergio tells me the Allen/Castillo/Castillo/Broach ensemble is applying trademark intensity to preparing its performance at Che Games for May, including road trips to assemble scattered members in Portland, Ore.; Oakland, Calif.; and San Diego. I can hardly wait to see the results!

Cool pictures… no one knows where this was?
Even better to hear that Hair Theatre is going to play in May!
I am deriving a great deal of pleasure hearing about the creative ways our respective bands are finding to get back into fighting trim across great distances.
I for one am having a MARVELOUS time playing that good ol’ Fender bass for the first time in more than 20 years. I’m never going to be competition for the four-string greats in our midst, but I do believe I’m considerably better than I was the last time Noise 292 did its thang. 🙂
It is going to be interesting preparing to play from across the west coast. I’m psyched. I wish the Rockin’ Dogs were going to play.
Time for a Rockin’ Dogs tribute band: “Candy Rock: Not the Rockin’ Dogs, but an amazing simulation!” (I think I could play Jane’s bass lines, although I wouldn’t look nearly as fetching doing it.)
