Here’s another dose from the July 30, 2011, event “Che Underground present Sounds of the Sunset Strip”: two songs from 1960s Los Angeles performed with skill and élan by the Ciros, making their debut at Lestat’s Coffee Shop.
Like headliners the Sidewalk Scene, the Ciros feature a formidable list of names from San Diego’s music history, as well as some notable newcomers: Thomas Ward (12-string guitar); Anthony Suarez (rhythm guitar); David Klowden (drums); Dave Fleminger (lead guitar); Dave Doyle (bass); Lou Damian (reeds); Dylan Rogers (vocals); Heather Vorwerck (cello); Graziela Damian (vocals).
More ‘Sunset Strip’: The Sidewalk Scene plays ‘Richard Corey’!
I’m struck by the fact that three Ciros — Tom, Dylan and Dave Fleminger — recently returned to San Diego after many years’ absence in what seems to be shaping up as a reverse-diaspora of musical talent!
In these two excerpts from the set, Dylan sings lead on Love’s “7 & 7 Is” and the Leaves’ “Too Many People.” And demonstrating their talents at multimedia and multitasking, the photographs and video/audio come courtesy of Messrs. Doyle and Fleminger, respectively.
Cool, I’m glad to get to see and hear this (one time?) band. I couldn’t hear the 12 string, but I like it.
Dylan also sang
backing vocals on a few tunes
and also
transformed from sky saxon to

lucky is the band that surrounds dylan blu rogers
