The Comeuppance: ‘Eyes of Love’/’Elegy’

A Thanksgiving treat from the Comeuppance, the sublime pairing of Dave Fleminger on guitar and vocals and Heather Vorwerck on cello.

These two songs closed the Comeuppance’s set at the Che Underground Rock-‘n’-Roll Weekend July 30, 2010. The band’s first formal San Diego appearance also closed a circle for Dave nearly 25 years after relocating to San Francisco.

Heather and Dave met in 2004, virtually onstage, while collaborating with Jeffrey Luck Lucas and Kira Lynn Cain. Soon they began playing as a duo, playing their unique form of original chamber pop characterized by intricate guitar finger picking and emotive, haunting cello lines.

“Many thanks to Lou Brazier at Lestat’s for the excellent sound and tireless help in making that evening such an enjoyable one,” he writes. “This truly felt like bringing it all back home.”

The video was shot by Paul Kaufman and synced to audio by Mr. Fleminger.

  1. It does my heart good to see Dave working with a collaborator of Heather’s caliber. This work is amazing … I love both the passion and craft that’s gone into the Comeuppance.
