In recognition of all the new participants tangenting tirelessly on Che Underground: The Blog, it’s probably time to remind everyone about its anemic younger sibling, Che Underground: The Forum.
One of the bedrock rules of natural Web selection is that if people want to visit somewhere (like this blog!) there’s no holding them back — and if people don’t want to visit somewhere (like the forum, at least lately) there’s no forcing the issue.
However, I thought I’d mention some cons and pros of this sere and lonely message board in case our members would like to irrigate it with their wisdom …
Cons:
- It’s butt-ugly.
- It’s hard to find.
- It requires you to register again, separate from the blog.
- Once you’re registered, you have to be granted access to use the damn thing. (Write cheunderground@gmail.com to tell us you’ve registered, and we’ll hook you up.)
However, there are also some nice things about it!
Pros:
- You can create not just tangents but whole new topics. The power!
- The liveliest stuff gets pushed to the top — not down to the bottom, like the blog.
- There’s a nifty little private-message function that lets you communicate directly with individual participants.
As always, please do observe our Golden Rule: Don’t implicate others for past activities that might cause them embarrassment today. (Warning your friends in advance before you tell tales is never a bad idea.)
Try Che Underground: The Forum!
Oh! And please use the space below to discuss ideas for making the forum more appealing.
… But honest to Jah, you do do have to send a note to cheunderground@gmail.com after you register, or I’m never going to know to give you access. Lame, lame, lame interface. 🙂
matthew, there are ways of making the board look nicer. i will check in with my former webmaster and ask how. it’s a basic board, so that shouldn’t be a problem. as for it’s use, i like that format. it is far more user friendly and interactive. easier to keep track of who you are talking to by using the quote function and the pm’s are nice.
but if kristen stops posting her then and nows i will be sad. i like both boards.
Ava: No worries — the forum will never supplant the blog. But if it looked a little less like ass, it’d be great!
(Oh, and single sign-on for both would be a blessing. A boy can dream!)
let me check in with sarah and ask her to come give it a gander. she’s in the bay area, so if you get hit by an isp from there that’s who it is.
>>if you get hit by an isp from there that’s who it is.
… And if I get bit by an asp from Egypt, I’ll know we’ve summoned Cleopatra!
ha!
yes. i hear cleopatra is looking for a good board hookup.
I cleaned out my cache not too long ago
and now it says I dont have permission to post on the forum
kiss my asp marc anthony! — sorry. I couldn’t resist.
ava dahlink, then and nows will keep coming as long as we don’t run out of thens to now -- the past is finite and can only be stretched as far the imagination.
MadMike: I dunno … I just checked, and you’re registered and active. Want to try registering again?
everything seems to be working fine now?
thanks Matt
Um, is this like Penthouse Forum? ‘Cause you’ll never believe what happen to me on an elevator last week. There I was waiting for my floor when the woman next to me…
That was “happened.” I guess I got a little excited.
Cole continue…enquring minds have to know.:0
